I am kinda curious to try a few different types of warlocks. At the moment I am interested in developing one that does not die (easily anyway). SL/SL (siphon life/soul link) builds seem to offer the most potential here. Basically you take all the survivability talents from demonology and all the life draining and health restorative talents from affliction. In the end you do less damage than a deep affliction lock, however you become much more difficult to bring down. This build is designed for pvp and soloing/grinding rather than raiding however a SL/SL lock may have the potential to offtank/tank in certain situations (i.e.: the Prince in H. Mana Tombs).

I like the above build the best because it snatches up most of the really nice upper tier demonology talents and give a resonable boost to damage. The Felguard cannot be taken in SL/SL builds but this shouldn't matter if one is only concerned with survivability, as the felpuppy is the pet of choice (and arugbly the Voidwalker for strategic Sacs).

Is the only other option I can think of for an alternative build. Here instead of picking up demonic resiliance and demonic knowledge points are dropped into Shadow Mastery. I think the first build is probably a little bit better but 10% bonus to all shadow damage is certainly nothing to dismiss out of hand. Also corruption is a tiny bit more ouchy with this build.

Anywhooo, just wanted to get feedback on these builds.

The only other build I have seen for a sl/sl build for a warlock is as follows:

Link

This build goes for the improved bonus shadow damage at the expense of demonic resilience. I am not an advocate of this build though, you are sacrificing a really good survival abillity for a little bit more damage (only 4% bonus to shadow damage).

I would NEVER do a sl/sl build without taking demonic knowledge. The ability is just that good. From what I have seen w/ it, it doesn't matter what pet you have out (with the exception of the imp weirdly enough you get MORE bonus damage), you will get the same bonus damage from this talent. W/ Nepthy's gear, she was getting around 120 bonus damage! That much damage is hard to justify NOT getting by only losing 3 talent points (6% extra shadow damage). Keep in mind too that when you play this style, you will be using immolate and incinerate over shadowbolt (does equivalent damage and takes 0.5 s less to cast). Thus general bonus damage is prefered to just shadow damage.

Hmmmm....

In my first build I meant to put 2 points in Master Summoner, rather than one. Oops. I'm not sure which I like better: the demonic resiliance version or the +4% Shadow/+12% corruption (or whatever the difference is) build. If I am going for pure survivability demonic resiliance is ideal and I think I may try this just to see how much survivability I can get out of it. Hmmmm....
