So I jumped onto the PTR after our Karazhan run and found a group to run regular Magister's Terrace. The dungeon make up is simple, the bosses are nothing new. We kept wiping on the last pull before Kael'thas before we quit. The healer then called me a bad tank and left. Let me explain our group make up and see if anyone agrees with me(See if you notice what's missing):

Feral Druid Tank (Me)
Resto Shaman
Elemental Shaman
Rogue
Retribution Paladin

The Last Pull before Kael'thas consists of 5 Elite mobs (1 Healer/Melee, 3 Casters, 1 Succubus) and 1 non elite mob (Imp).

We sap one of the casters.

Apparently I'm supposed to hold the rest of the mobs on me while the Shaman heals and everyone else just blasts away with whatever the hell they please.

And it's my fault we wipe. Another reason I don't PuG. But I wanted to see the instance, and I know how all the fights but Kael'thas work now, so the Instance should be easy going. So, given the above story I ask you:

Am I a bad tank?

I Blame Outrage. Why is he rolling Rogues on test servers?

Sorry, I couldn't resist with the vote...but seriously...

Despite popular opinions on the topic feral druids cannot easily hold multiple mobs. We have one 10 min CD which lets us grab their attention for a moment but if the dpsers are not focused - even only to the point of using AoE - we will likely lose control over all of our mobs. Our ability to hold more than 1 mob rests on two things really. The first is swipe which is a weak attack and will not do the damage required to hold a mob very long. It also runs the risk of breaking CC unless you are really far away or turned away from the CC'd target. The second is tab switching to mangle and or lacerate the target which is not the focus. This is necessary usually to hold more than one mob but it is dangerous because the dps will often pull the first mob away while you are focused on the second (or third, etc). If focus fire is tight we can possible hold up to five mobs, so long as they are mostly melee but this can be very dangerous. I would say in an ideal situation 2-3 if necessary.

The Healer in question also thought that 1 swipe would generate enough aggro to hold the mobs it hit.

The only tank breed that I know who can effectively hold more than one mob is a Pally ... which puts us warriors and druids out of work for such instances as Shattered Halls. To be honest for a pull like that you want a lock ... which couldve feared one mob and banished the succubus. Not enough cc IMO.
