Alright kids, lets stir up some life on the website. By first of the year we will be pushing a weekly raid into Naxx. With any luck, we can play with one of the other 10-mans on an off day. Thus returning us to our progression. That said, I am gonna approach the topic of DPS. Ours as a guild quite frankly sucks. I am currently researching mods to get an accurate indicator of Damage per second dealt. According to random forum research, your best damage classes in raids are Hunters, DKs, Mages, Locks, Rogues and Warriors. Shamans and Ret Paladins should be fine also. I am not making a full list or order, just pointing out that pretty much all DPS classes should be able to consistently out damage a tank. In guild as far as I notice, your top Damage dealers are as follows. Van, Kallis, Okinappi, Jeina, Sil's DK, Birall, and Nep. You'll note that 3rd on the list was the guild's main tank. Jeina is keeping up, and will be doing more with a couple of weapon upgrades. Sil is new to 80, and needs a few raids to work out damage. Birall is new to Ret, and progressing nicely from what i have seen. Nep is under-geared, and still improving. This thread is not meant as a bash on anyone. Rather just trying to start a discussion on damage in general. What can we do as a guild to help with gear? Combat rotations? I would liked to see the main tank doing no better than 5th or 6th on future raids. Not fighting for second like in Naxx last time around. Any ideas for improvement overall I will be happy to help with. I have rambled enough. Discuss. :-P

Optimal raid damage is based on an optimal raid set up, both in terms of individual characters and in terms of raid make up. Although we are a raiding guild (more or less) we have never been hardcore about it, nor do I think that is the top priority of people who enjoy being in the guild. We invite people of a variety of skill levels, time-investments, and spec-choices to partake in our raiding. I think we can expect our raiders to try their best and to bring consumables (food, pots, and flasks) but I do not think we should expect them to perform at a hard-core raiding guild level.

That said, I think the number one thing we can do to increase our raid performance is to increase our recruitment numbers. This does not mean replacing our current raiders with more skilled or geared players. This means creating a larger pool of players for crafting items, running heroics and battlegrounds, and having more players to choose from when customizing more effective raiding parties. Currently our players, with the exception of a few tighter groups, are forced to PuG heroics and go into BGs and WGs alone. As far as I know, there are only a couple of players in guild who openly supply other members with free (or near) professional items. Most times of the day we have a handful of players online.

Greater numbers, keeping an eye open for friendly players looking for a new guild and recommending them to an officer or our website, these are what we need to focus on for success.

I guess i will throw my two cents in on this thread jsut as to clarify as to why some people are not topping the damage against teh tank.

1. Rogues even at a steady 3:5 rotation will still find it extremely difficult to keep up to other classes even those that are less geared... everyone remembers Kara and how hard it was back then. but in t6 content it was extremely difficult to top a well geared and Skilled rogue.

2. Hunters should really get themselves into a Rotation they feel is Optimizing their DPS. i found Sorrens EZ rotations an extremely Helpful mod pre-WOTLK

3. Retadins should be doing very well with enough Hit Rating, since they are super OP lol.

Just as a Former member to an extremely HxC Raiding Guild i would say that you guys should focus on teh Hit rating on your gear find out what is the HIt cap for your class and reach it. remember this simple phrase if you are like one of those members that loves Crit.. "If you cant HIT, you CANT CRIT"

I will also agree with Okinappi that bringing the Right Consumables to any raid will not only show your raid leaders your commitment to raid but you will be doing more damage thus making you Shine even more.

thats enough on my part but if any of you need help on how to prep for raids i have extensive experience raiding with a Paladin, Rogue, and Hunter.

First off, no rogue with the proper glyphs should be running 3s/5r anymore.

Secondly, to maximize my DPS I need better weapons, a feral druid, a fury warrior, an enhancement shaman and a blood specc'd DK in my group.

Get to work on that.

In addition, it's no rare feat for tanks to be high on damage meters anymore. Blizzard saw to that.

Also, looking at the overall damage meter is a bit biased towards AoE classes.
